The first annual meeting of the young men's republican club of vermont was held in burlington, vermont on february 13, 1895. Lincoln day was chosen for the meeting. The guest speaker was a new york attorney, chauncey m. Depew, who worked for the new york cnetral railroad, he ultimately became president of the company. In 1899 depew became u. S. Senator from new york. He was invited to speak ta this meeting by the railroad giant, dr. Sweard webb. Dr seward webb's son james watson webb married electra havemeyer webb. The fabric ribbon has a wear hole on the a of banquet (please look at the photo) otherwise teh ribbon is in good condition! The approx.
